Pirate Hoops Set For Las Vegas International
East Carolina will be among the nine teams to compete in the 15th annual Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas during the Thanksgiving Holiday, Nov. 26-27, the tournament group announced on Thursday. The Pirates are part of a strong field that includes Arkansas-Little Rock, Bethune-Cookman, California, Richmond, Sam Houston State, San Diego Stat. Stetson and West Virginia. East Carolina will face Arkansas-Little Rock on Thanksgiving Day at 11 a.m. PST before playing either Stetson or Bethune-Cookman the following day at 2:30 p.m. PST. Each team will play four games in the Invitational, including two at on-campus sites, which will be announced at a later day. The Pirates return four of their top five scorers along with their top five rebounders, including leading scorer B.J. Tyson (12.5 ppg), who was a unanimous American all-freshman team selection. ECU also returns a trio of junior starters led Caleb White (12.2 ppg), who enters the 2015-16 season less than 200 points shy of 1,000 for his career. Michel Nzege averaged a team-high 4.7 rebounds per game in his first season with the team, while Marshall Guilmette averaged 10.3 points and 5.0 rebounds per game over the final seven contests after battling injuries through the season's first three months.
