Jones Commits to ECU
Three-star 2016 wide receiver/defensive back Emmanuel Jones announced his commitment to East Carolina today after unofficially visiting the campus. The Asheboro High School (Asheboro, N.C.) product was heavily recruited by both the Pirates and West Virginia. Though Jones said back in April that he would decide which school to attend after his senior season, he made the decision today. Jones, 6-foot, 175 pounds, is currently ranked the fifth best receiver in the state and held other offers from WVU, N.C. State, Purdue and Charlotte. Defensive coordinator Rick Smith was Jones’ primary recruiter and since the Pirates offered him in April, they haven’t slowed down in pursuit of him. Jones is projected to be a receiver at the collegiate level but he played defensive back in high school. With his commitment, Jones becomes the second receiver in the class, joining Tahj Deans, following the decommittment of Dre Massey ECU’s 2016 recruiting class now stands at 10 with quarterback Reid Herring, offensive linemen Cortez Herrin and Justin Chase, defensive linemen Rondre Knowles-Tener and Jalen Price, cornerbacks Taylor and Keyshawn Canady and running back Johnnie Glaspie.
