ECU Offers First 2018 Prospect

2018 Benedictine High School (Richmond, VA) point guard Rasir Bolton has multiple offers including an offer from ECU. IES spoke with him about his ECU offer and more.

Rasir Bolton is a young sophomore from Benedictine High School (Richmond, VA) but he is also a determined point guard in the 2018 class. Bolton received an offer from ECU on July 23rd while he was in a tournament with Team Loaded in Las Vegas.

Bolton seems to be very mature for his age both on and off the court. He listed making decisions as one of his strengths and he will need to make a big decision come 2018.

The 6-foot-1 guard has already received multiple offers but wants to stay close to home. Some schools that have offered him, as of now, are Richmond, Hampton and Old Dominion, but also added that he is focusing on improving his game on the court.

“I’ve been looking into it,” he said, “but I’m mostly just focusing on my game right now.”

The recruiting process is only just starting to heat up for the young guard. Only a sophomore, Bolton still has three more years to improve his game at high school. While there are some improvements to be made, Bolton is still a very skilled guard.

“I want to get bigger, stronger and be a leader with the younger kids on the team,” he said.

Scoring and good defense were also used to describe his play on the court. Bolton averaged 11 points per game at Millwood High School this past season. He poses good shooting ability and is also savvy when attacking the rim.

At Millwood High School (Midlothian, VA) Bolton shared the court with teammate Jermaine Matthews. Matthews is also being heavily recruited and someone that Bolton can learn from in the recruiting process. Matthews advised Bolton to look into each school to make a good decision.

As of now Bolton is a two star recruit but with his continued growth, but don’t be surprised to see Bolton’s name more as time progresses. Bolton should improve playing high level competition at Benedictine and Team Loaded.

While Bolton is focused on improving on the court, he also is focused academically. He included academics as a factor when deciding where to go.

Bolton received the first official offer from ECU for 2018. If Bolton visits ECU, he was told that he could attend a football game.
