In-state QB Ifedi a major target for East Carolina

Kingsley Ifedi is one of the top quarterback targets for ECU in 2017 and he spoke to InsideECUSports about his familiarity and intrigue with East Carolina

Charlotte (N.C.) Vance quarterback, Kingsley Ifedi has piqued the interest of East Carolina's coaching staff, who are looking to add depth at the quarterback position in this recruiting class.

Newly appointed ECU offensive coordinator Tony Peterson has been heavily recruiting Ifedi over the past couple of months.

Ifedi is also familiar with another member of the Pirate coaching staff; new head coach Scotty Montgomery.

“I’ve been keeping up with coach Mo [Scotty Montgomery] since he was Duke,” Ifedi said. “I really like offense-orientated head coaches, especially Montgomery because he was the quarterbacks coach.

“Everyone I talk to about him mentions his big personality,” Ifedi said. “So I think when I finally decide about school, that would be a big factor.”

The Vance quarterback also has family connections with ECU. Ifedi's two older brothers were Pirates, and he has been attending ECU football games since he was in middle school.

“I love the college-town feeling of Greenville, and how everything shuts down for a game, and just how everyone is behind the movement,” he said.
