The Pirates began looking at Moloney last year r, and the recruiting process has continued through the transition to the new coaching staff.
"They recruited me when the old staff was there during November," said Moloney."Then when the new staff was hired, they continued to recruit me as well as give me an offer."
Moloney, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound pro-style quarterback, spoke highly of the new coaching staff, and believes they are making changes for the better. .
"I really like them," Moloney said. "I like what they are doing for the program."
On his first visit last Saturday, Moloney was impressed with strength and conditioning coach Jeff Connors, the facilities, and seeing the Pirates run through a practice.
"My favorite parts were coach Connor's presentation of his workouts and what he believes works to enhance performance," said Moloney."I also watched practice and toured the facilities."
Moloney did admit however that Dowdy Ficklen Stadium stood out as a lasting image from his trip.
"The stadium was definitely the most appealing thing to me when I was on my visit," said Moloney.
Moloney noted this was just the beginning of his review of the campus and the facilities. .
"Yes, I plan on visiting again," said Moloney. "I want to see more of the campus."
Moloney finished his junior season with a shade under 4,000 yards, 47 touchdowns on 409 attempts and only four interceptions.
