ECU’s WR Corp poised for dominate season

The combination of proven returners and talented newcomers, should allow the Pirates wide receiving core to be a major factor this fall.

East Carolina's wide receivers are poised to have a great season this fall.

The Pirates have 11 wide receivers returning for the upcoming season, including standouts Isaiah Jones, Trevon Brown, and Davon Grayson.

Jones, who was the team’s leading receiver last fall, finished with 98 receptions for 1,099 yards and five touchdowns. His best game of the season came against UCF where he caught 14 passes for 181 yards and two touchdowns. The senior is the unquestioned leader of the unit and should have a huge season.

Trevon Brown and Davon Grayson both had solid seasons last fall, but both are primed for bigger campaigns in 2016. Brown had 496 yards on 41 catches and four touchdowns last season in 2015, while Grayson caught 33 passes for 448 yards and three touchdowns.

A player to watch out for next year should be redshirt freshman Deandre Farrier. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound slot receiver from Orlando, Fla. has a lot of potential. Farrier was Parade All-American as a high school senior and caught a state-record 118 receptions for 1,850 yards and 22 touchdowns.

Overall, the wide receiver position for ECU should be one of the stronger units for the Pirates. The combination of proven returners and talented newcomers, should allow the Pirates wide receiving core to be a major factor this fall.
