Recently, ECU became the first school to offer Raleigh (N.C.) Ravenscroft wide receiver Tyler Williams and he spoke with Scout about the Pirates.
On May 25, in-state wide receiver Tyler Williams received his first offer from East Carolina.
Williams, who is a rising junior, has already proven to be a big-time playmaker for the Ravenscroft High School football team.
“Running after the catch is a big part of my game and I enjoy the contact,” said the 6-foot-2, 205-pound Williams. I like to model my game after Julio since he is a big, physical receiver.”
Along with receiver, Williams plays linebacker on defense.
“I enjoy playing defense,” he said. “I like to blitz and use my speed to get around blockers.”
Williams has been in contact with coach (Antonio) King, who is the running backs coach at East Carolina.
“We have talked a lot about the new coaching staff,” Williams said. “I like how they seem to tune in to the players very well.”
He has not visited ECU yet, but he is planning on attending a camp in June. While on campus, he’s looking forward to meeting the rest of the coaching staff and enjoying himself in Greenville.
Williams expressed that he has really enjoyed the recruiting process so far and that he is excited to have his first offer on the table from East Carolina,
“I put in a lot of work, so it feels really good.” he said. “I appreciate my family and I have worked really hard with my coaches to get here,” he said.
Along with the Pirates, Williams has also seen interest from fellow in-state schools North Carolina and NC State, as well as South Carolina, Clemson, Florida State, and Tennessee.
