Adding a big body to an offensive line that has been struggling, 6-foot-3 290 pound offensive guard Connor Mills is looking forward to joining Pirate nation and is excited to get to Greenville.
Mills said that it is the relationships he has built with the coaches and the great atmosphere that engulfs Greenville on Saturdays that lead to his decision to commit.
"The selling point was the active recruiting by coach Wade," said Mills. "Also, the support I will have from the Greenville community every Saturday."
Mills is also very excited that he can continue to play with his current Buford High School teammate Mic Roof.
"I'm most excited to play early," said Mills. "I'll also get to play with Mic Roof. It's just a huge bonus to know that I will be playing with someone I know."
Mills is also very aware of the challenges that come with transitioning from high school to college and know that he will be playing amongst grown men.
"The hardest part will be strength," said Mills. "I will be coming in at 17 years old and be expected to play against guys in their 20s."
However, Mills is confident that his skills and positive state of mind will see him through overcoming these challenges.
"I'm looking to bring my skill set," said Mills. "i also have the mentality to improve."
Mills also spoke very highly of head coach Scottie Montgomery.
"The program is going in a great direction with the hiring of coach Mo,"' said Mills. "He's a great man who cares about not only developing good players, but great men."
