Inside ECU Sports takes a look at the 2017 recruiting class

In his first year at East Carolina, head coach Scottie Montgomery has done an outstanding job at recruiting all of these extraordinary players to come play for the Pirates' football team.

From quarterback to safety the 2017 recruiting class for East Carolina is loaded with talent. Ranging from North Carolina to Ohio, ECU has broadened their range of looking for talent.

On the offensive side of the ball, ECU has 10 commits in this recruiting cycle. In regards to running back Jerry Howard, out of  Rock Hill (S.C.) Northwestern, is committed.

The Pirates have two quarterbacks to committed -- Mic Roof is a pro-style passer out of Georgia and dual-threat signal-caller Kingsley Ifedi.

The wide receiving corp has added speed, agility, dependability, and intelligence to the roster for the 2017 season. Jayden Bowers, Blake Proehl, Mydreon Vines, and Da'Shaun Johnson are all in the fold. Johnson and Borders were two of the most productive receivers in North Carolina last fall..

Up front on the offensive line, the Pirates have added three players in guard Connor Mills, center John Spellacy, and tackle Matt Morgan.

Defensively the pirates have a total of three recruits. East Carolina has secured two defensive backs -- Myles White and Marcus Holton. On the defensive line, ECU has landed Tajih Alston, a 6-foot-5, 205 pound big-time athlete.

Coach Montgomery and the Pirates will look to carry their momentum on the recruiting trail and into the fall, as they finish up with the 2017 class.
