East Carolina has made substantial headway this offseason by acquiring a lot of high-end talent on both sides of the ball. The Pirates' newest addition is likely one of the biggest pickups in recent memory.
Tim Irvin, nephew of NFL legend Michael Irvin, has transferred from Auburn to ECU.
Speaking on why he left, Irvin said that it was his level of comfort, or lack there of that made him transfer.
"I just wasn't comfortable with everything," said Irvin. "But it is a great program."
He continued by saying why he chose to come to ECU.
"When I first came to ECU, there was something special that I liked," said Irvin. "I don't know if it was the coaches or the environment, but I'm ready to play."
Obviously being in the same family as Michael Irvin has its pros and cons, and Tim discussed both ends of the spectrum.
"The pros are having something to look up to every day," he said. "I perfect my craft on and off the football field. Cons are just knowing that I can be the next one up to make a name for myself."
Irvin also said this his uncle gives him plenty of tips about how to become a better player and person.
"He gives me pointers," said Irvin. "He tells me that if you want to be great, you're going to have to sacrifice everything you love and do and dedicate everything to this game."
Last year at Auburn, the 5-foot-9, 194-pound defensive back finished with 18 tackles in 10 games.
