After committing last Thursday, High Point (N.C.) defensive end Ja-Quane Nelson is eager to join East Carolina.
Nelson said that it is an unreal feeling to be committed, and noted that it was the presence of head coach Scottie Montgomery that paved the way for his commitment.
"It is a great feeling to be committed," said Nelson. "It feels amazing to know I'm going to be playing under a great coach.
Nelson continued to praise Montgomery for his coaching abilities.
"I love his style of coaching," said Nelson. "He's going to keep it real in any situation."
ECU was Nelson's number one pick over a field that included schools such as UNCC, Murray State, and Hampton because of the aura that surrounds the school.
"I chose ECU because of the atmosphere of the college," said Nelson. "I absolutely love it!"
When he gets to campus, Nelson is looking to bring a good mindset and be ready to win.
"I want to bring a winning mentality," said Nelson. "I want to be able to come in and help the players and the team win games."
Last season, Nelson finished with 33 tackles, 10 sacks, and 1 forced rumble and 3 fumble recoveries.
