ECU head coach Scottie Montgomery meets with the media after practice

The Pirates held a full pad workout on Tuesday night under the lights. Head coach Scottie Montgomery spoke with the media at the conclusion of it.

Coach Montgomery moved Tuesday's practice back a little later in the evening and he seemed to be pleased with the results.

"I never thought it would be this cool and our guys benefited from it," he said. "The energy level was high, it's a blessing to be out here. It was a good day of practice."

He also went on to discuss their preparation for their opening game against Western Carolina.

"We've already started," he said. He wants to continue that preparation for a few more days and then get back to some more competition days which will include their team trip to Charlotte.

Coach Montgomery also had some interesting comments on how the carries will be distributed at the running back position.

"Games have personalities," he said. "we'll have to have the best back for that personality."

The Pirates will practice again today at 4:15 p.m.
