ECU football is improving, and their confidence is rising

Lets take a look at the key takeaway points from this evenings practice

As the Pirates resume practice after taking a day off for the first day of class, the intensity was the same, but the confidence was elevated.

That is the first takeaway; the players and coaches are confident. Head coach Scottie Montgomery had some very endearing words about his players after practice.

"This is our best practice since we've met in Greenville," said Montgomery.

It is imperative that a first year coach finds his footing in the summer so that he can settle in before the season starts, and roll into the fall campaign full steam ahead.

The Second takeaway is the shift in mentality. Specifically, the shift from practice mode to game mode. In his post practice interview from this evening, Montgomery noted that it is "..starting to feel like game week."

The third takeaway from tonights practice was receiving an update on injured wide receiver Davon Grayson. The 6-foot-2 196 pound senior has been sidelined with a lower back injury. Coach Montgomery is not thrilled with the pace Grayson has been progressing, however, Montgomery wants to make sure that Grayson is ready to go mentally and physically.
