Darius Commissiong dismissed from ECU for animal abuse

GREENVILLE, NC- East Carolina junior defensive lineman Darius Commissiong has been dismissed from the Pirate football program as a result of his arrest on Friday.

Following his arrest on Friday, East Carolina junior defensive lineman Darius Commissiong has been dismissed from the Pirate football program according to an announcement from head football coach Scottie Montgomery.

Commissiong was charged with felony animal cruelty by the Greenville Police Department.

"While we always want to be in a position to guide young people, unacceptable behavior such as this clearly crosses the line of humanity and simply will not be tolerated," said coach Montgomery. "There's a level of accountability which defines our program, athletics department and East Carolina University, and any conduct which isn't congruent with those values is unwelcome here."

Commissiong transferred to East Carolina during the summer of 2015 and played in 10 games as a reserve last season tallying 10 tackles. He was the projected starter at one of the defensive end positions at the conclusion of training camp.
