East Carolina coach Scottie Montgomery took time to talk with the media after this evening's practice, and his focus points were on communication and the Pirates keeping their composure when game time rolls around.
"Practice today felt like we were really getting close to the game," said Montgomery. "The guys were amped up when we went offense versus defense."
However, Montgomery is not worried about his team losing their composure on game day.
"We haven't got to the point of calming them down," said Montgomery. "We'll be fine."
When asked about his thoughts on the Big 12's decision to take ECU out of the running as an expansion team, Montgomery took it as a challenge.
"it adds a little bit of a bigger chip on our shoulders," said Montgomery.
ECU athletic director Jeff Compher was also around to comment on the Big 12's decision, and his views were along the same lines as Montgomery's.
He believes that ECU will continue to make strides in the AAC, and that the Pirates will see a New Years Day bowl game.
Montgomery also wants the defense to continue to communicate effectively with each other.
"We got to make sure that all of us know what we're doing as group once the whistle blows" he said.
