Three ECU commits from the 2017 class will be playing in the 2016 Shrine Bowl

East Carolina fans will get the chance to see some of the 2017 commits share the field in the 2016 Shrine Bowl.

Being selected to play in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas is one of the highest honors that a high school football player in North or South Carolina can receive.

East Carolina will have three commits from their 2017 recruiting class participating in this year's game.

Athlete Darius Pinnix and wide receiver Jayden Borders will be playing for North Carolina, while running back Jerry Howard will be playing for South Carolina.

Pinnix, who is having a huge season at Western Alamance High School, is very appreciative of his opportunity to play in this game.

"It's an honor to be selected," said Pinnix. "When I was growing up my favorite player of all time was Levon Curtis and he made the shrine bowl. So, my goal when I was a kid was to make the shrine bowl. It's an unreal feeling that I get a chance to represent North Carolina and Western Alamance High School."

The Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas will be played on Saturday, Dec.17 at Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C.
