ECU head coach Scottie Montgomery spoke with the media following Tuesday's practice

Greenville, N.C.-- Head coach Scottie Montgomery spoke with the media following Tuesday's practice.

Following practice on Tuesday, Inside ECU Sports caught up with ECU head coach Scottie Montgomery, and he gave his thoughts on a physical practice.

The East Carolina Pirates get a fresh start with conference play beginning this week.

"We just need to play clean football," said Montgomery, "What we are really working hard on this week is red zone, a lot of red zone football to get points -- touchdowns versus field goals"

On if the fans would see defensive tackle, Demetri McGill, coach Montgomery replied that he would be week to week, but someone will be ready to take his place.

"We want to take from the good we did in the game, but also need to learn from the bad," Montgomery said. "We haven't moved on from the bad, we moved on from the outcome of the game. But we're still living in the moments of what we need to get fixed."

Practice will continue to be a physical battle while the team gets prepared for their next home game this Saturday against UCF.
