East Carolina heads on the road and into storm against USF

The East Carolina football team will travel to South Florida to take on the Bulls in the midst of Hurricane Matthew Saturday.

East Carolina (2-3) begins conference play tomorrow against South Florida (4-1).

USF is coming off of a 45-20 thrashing victory at Cincinnati's home field.

The Pirates, on the other hand, are coming off a tough 47-29 loss to the UCF. ECU has had a bad habit of squandering opportunities in the red zone this season.

To add to the confusion, the special teams has not been up to par the last few games. The Pirates' mistakes have included poor ball security and failing to protect the quarterback.

Head coach Scottie Montgomery has emphasized that the team must establish a running game against USF

As for the Bulls, they have played well this season. Their only loss came against Florida State 55-35. They won the other four games handedly.

The Pirates will need to contain the two-headed monster in the backfield of quarterback Quint Flowers, and running back Marlon Mack.

The key for the Pirates this week is to rush the ball and for the defense to hold strong on third down.

It is another tough matchup and one the Pirates need to win.
