"This is not an off week for us"

Greenville, N.C. -- Due to an unexpected off week, ECU is conducting what they call a "mini-camp" to prepare for Cincinnati.

The lingering effects of Hurricane Matthew caused  East Carolina's game against Navy Thursday night to be moved to Nov. 19.

Now that they have an open week, the Pirates are having a mid-season mini-camp in hopes of getting the team back on track.

"We will have two to three days to get fundamentals and physical with each other, but also learn more about Cincinnati," said head coach Scottie Montgomery.

With no game this week, ECU hopes to progress as a team and get some of the injured players extra time to recover, so they can be ready for the next game.

"It's beneficial to us right now," Montgomery said. "We will have everybody back, probably for the first time since the N.C. State game"
