Inside ECU Sports caught up with new S commit Kalen McCain

Following his commitment to East Carolina Sunday night, Kalen McCain spoke with Inside ECU Sports about why he chose to become a Pirate and what the future holds

Last night, promising JUCO and former NC State defensive back Kalen McCain verbally committed to East Carolina.

"When I was leaving N.C. State, the school I wanted to go to was ECU," said McCain. "Also, my high school coach (running backs coach Antonio King) is now a coach there, so that relationship is there. Plus, it's back home!"

The 6-foot-2 185 pound Durham (N.C.)  native has been playing JUCO ball in Pennsylvania and is confident that his skill set will have a positive impact on the team.

"In terms of football, I think I have a great chance to play and make an impact on the games when I get there," said McCain. "I know I will bring versatility and a winning attitude to the football program. I'll bring a working attitude and be involved in the community and the university."

That is another aspect of ECU that excited McCain's -- the education that he will receive in Greenville.

"Academically, I know when I graduate, I'll have a degree from a great school," said McCain. "I know it will be good for me."

Before we had to part ways, McCain added this final statement:

"I'm looking forward to being there and ready to bring some wins to Greenville," he said.
