Talented pitcher Cody Benton commits to East Carolina

ECU baseball continues to make strides towards making it back to Omaha as they gain a promising new pitching commmit

Cody Benton, a 6-foot-3 205-pound right-handed pitcher from Cerro Gordo (N.C.) West Columbus, has chosen to continue his baseball and academic career at East Carolina.

Benton, whose brother also pitches for ECU, is excited to join Pirate Nation.

"I know that ECU will continue to be successful in the future," said Benton. "Also, the atmosphere there is legit and I love it there."

The coaches also peaked the interest of Benton.

"The coaches are really good," said Benton. "I've been around them a lot and I know that they are really good. I can't wait to play for them."

Benton also touched on playing with brother.

"I think it'll be awesome playing with my brother," said Benton. "I played one year with him in high school and it was pretty cool. But, playing college ball with him will be awesome."

The 16-year-old currently plays for the Dirtbags and is a North Carolina native.
