Coach Montgomery addressed the media after Tuesday's practice

Greenville N.C. -- Scottie Montgomery spoke with the media about ECU's running back situation, turnovers, and more following Tuesday's practice.

Though East Carolina has been on a five-game skid, head coach Scottie Montgomery seems excited with the progress his players are making in practice.

"We work hard," said Montgomery. "We're resilient. We came in with a lot of energy. We're trying to make sure we get better every day."

Montgomery talked about the switch he made at running back, but does not want to put any pressure on the new starter in the backfield Shawn Furlow.

"I don't want to load all the pressure on him," said Montgomery. "He's been in his book. He's been working hard. He feels the pressure, but that's what this game is about -- handling pressure."

Montgomery also talked said that ECU's biggest problem which has been turnovers, and talked about how he feels for junior running back Anthony Scott.

"I love our kids." said Montgomery. "When they hurt, I hurt. I know that Anthony is hurt."

The Pirates will be back on the practice field tomorrow night.
