ECU loses second straight conference game to UCF 48-45

UCF defeated ECU in a low scoring conference matchup 48-45 on Tuesday night. In a game where both teams were riddled by mistakes and missed shots, the Pirates came up short.

The East Carolina Pirates jumped out to a nice start and took an early lead against UCF. However, the Knights eventually got things going offensively and Pirates ended up losing 48-45.

When one team shoots 26 percent from the field, they rarely win. But ECU's field goal percentage was 26.7, while UCF was even worse at 26.1.

On the bright side, the Pirates shot the ball better from three-point range than in the previous three games. The Pirates shot 31 percent while as to UCF's shot 18 percent  Though the Pirates won the turnover battle, it was still a game where the team was outrebounded 46-38.

The Pirates featured a new starting lineup without Freshman guard Jeremy Shepard. Another Freshman, Deng Riak, got the start in his place, and scored four points and secured seven rebounds.

Next up, the Pirates travel to Pennsylvania to take on Temple in another AAC matchup on Saturday at 12 p.m.
