ECU loses another conference game against Memphis

With last night's 57-50 loss against AAC opponent Memphis, ECU falls to 10-12 on the season, and 2-7 in conference play.

Last night, ECU was on the road facing the Memphis Tigers. Though the game stayed close through the first half, Memphis utilized a 22-10 run to take control with five minutes to go in the game.

In this low-scoring matinee, both teams struggled from the field, shooting around 30 percent on the afternoon. But Memphis did have rally. Leading to way was K.J. Lawson, who finished with 12 points and a career-high 19 rebounds

This loss places ECU at 10-12 on the season and 2-7 in the AAC.  They now share the eighth position with Temple. Needless to say, it would be fair to assume that ECU's postseason aspirations are dismal.

One solid take away from the loss is that freshman guard Kentrell Barkley recorded a double-double, with 11 points and 13 rebounds. However, ECU was outrebounded 52-40 on the afternoon.

The Pirates play again Feb. 1 on the road against SMU, which another AAC opponent, before returning home to Minges Coliseum on Feb. 4 when they host Tulane. The game against SMU will air on ESPN News. Tip off is set for 9:30 p.m.
