Looking to add depth to the defense, ECU reaches out to SC DB

Though football season is over, recruiting never stops. This past Saturday, ECU extended an offer to South Carolina defensive back R.J. Roderick. Inside ECU Sports spoke with Roderick about the offer and got the inside scoop on how feels about the school.

Though the focal point of this weekend was the  East Carolina baseball team, Pirate football extended an offer to 2018 South Carolina defensive back R.J. Roderick

Roderick, who plays ball at CBHS in Summerville, S.C., received his offer from East Carolina this past Saturday. For Roderick, which is his fifth.

As a stranger to Greenville and the ECU campus, Roderick is excited to make his first trip to the 252 this upcoming weekend. On his visit Roderick is excited to assimilate himself with the culture and begin developing relationships with the coaches.

Roderick also appreciates the "little things" the coaches do for their players that extend beyond the gridiron.

"They're coaching more than athletes," said Roderick. "Coach Lynch put emphasis on that it's more than just football. They're coaching character too."

The 6-foot 207 pound defensive back could really prove to be an asset for East Carolina. For more on Roderick, stay tuned to Inside ECU Sports.
