Despite two players combining for 39 points, ECU losses to Tulsa

The East Carolina Pirates men's basketball team returns home after a bitter loss in Tulsa, 74-66. The Pirates fall to 9th in the AAC Conference with a 5-11 record. The team could not maintain Tulsa's forward Junior Etou, who scored 31 points in the last game against the Pirates. Etou led his team to victory shooting 87 percent from the field.

As basketball season is coming to an end, East Carolina traveled to Texas and battled against the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes. The Pirates shot 42 percent from the field, and went 8-22 from outside the arc.

Even though the team lost, Caleb White was still able to post 20 points.  That is back-to-back double-digit scoring perfomances for White and Kentrell Barkley, who added 19.

During the second half, ECU began to fall behind as forward Junior Etou shot nearly perfect from the field. The Pirates had no answer for the play of Etou and Sterling Taplin, who had 13 points and 9 assists.

ECU's bench simply did not show up, combining for a total of 8 points, and 0-6 from the field. Now the Pirates must prepare for their second to last game against UConn Wednesday at home.
