The East Carolina Pirates knocked off the 9th ranked Marquette Golden Eagles in Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum 51-46 on Tuesday Night in front of a crowd of 7,242. 1800 students stormed the floor after what Jeff Charles, "the Voice of the Pirates", called the biggest win in ECU Basketball history.

The Pirates trailed the Golden Eagles 7-0 early on and trailed by 11 at one point. The Pirates trailed at halftime 20-27. But the Pirates came out and decided that it was time to give their fans a big time upset win.

Travis Holcom-Faye led the Pirates with 15 points and 4 of 6 from behind the arch. With the fans chanting "Moose, Moose, Moose", Moussa Badianne scored 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 blocked shots.

Senior Kenyatta Brown had a great final home game by scoring 10 points. Senior Brandon Hawkins scored 7 points in his final home game.

The 2-3 defense that Bill Herrion likes so well has finally staring to pay off. Marquette's Cordell Henry averages 15 points per game but was shut down and only scored 2 points tonight. Dwayne Wade scored 15 points in the first half but was held to only 4 in the second half.

The Pirates have secured at least a #12 berth in the Conference USA tournament in their first year in the Conference. With a win in Houston against TCU on Saturday, the Pirates may get an even higher berth.

Moussa Badianne on the crowd's "Moose" chant, "The crowd really gave me more energy and confidence. When the crowd gets into the game they become the 6th man."

The Pirates are now (12-16, 5-10 in C-USA). Marquette falls to (23-5, 12-3 in C-USA).
