Signee Highlights: Emanuel Davis

One of the state's top 1A athletes, Emanuel Davis could be the most versatile player in ECU's class. Here is your chance to catch the Manteo (NC) star in action!

Name: Emanuel Davis
Hometown: Manteo, North Carolina
High School: Manteo High School
Position: Safety/Quarterback
Vitals: 5'11/185/4.55

NOTES:Emanuel Davis led Manteo High School to a 15-1 record and a 1-A state championship berth in 2006.

Playing offense and defense for Manteo, Davis led a high-octane offense that scored 41 points per game and was the star on a defensive unit that yielded just 5.75 points per game. He rushed for 1,590 yards and 28 touchdowns, and was named an all-state selection.

Davis can impact the game on both sides of the ball, and he should be a valuable weapon for East Carolina.

COACH QUOTE: "No fear. He has none. He's probably one of the two or three kids I've coached in 29 years that's had zero fear. He enjoys contact. He's very physical and has tremendous athletic ability. I think his versatility is his greatest asset." -- Manteo head coach Walt Davis

SCOUTING REPORT: "At 5-11, 185 pounds, Emanuel Davis from Manteo (NC) High School is one of the state's top athletes for the class of 2007. Although he took most of his snaps at QB for the Redskins, Davis excelled during his time at defensive back as well. This talented player has extremely quick feet, plays aggressive and isn't afraid to hit. His strongest asset is his speed and that allows him to track down ball-carriers and shut down pass receivers. With the ball in his hands he was electrifying at times with the ability to explode through gaps and outrun defenders to the endzone. Davis will most likely project as a cornerback or safety on the next level." -- Recruiting Analyst Steve Williams
