Hendersonville (NC) defensive end Dominique Whiteside has slid under the recruiting radar, but he expects the interest to pick up during the May Evaluation Period.

"I'm hearing from a bunch of schools now," said Whiteside. "Clemson, Georgia Tech, ECU, and some smaller schools are recruiting me. There are some coming to my school so I do think more will be after me soon.

Whiteside attended the Ragsdale Shrine Bowl combine and he looked strong during drills. Measuring in at 6-foot-3 and 223 pounds, he has long arms and good feet.

"I think I did good," he said. "I only ran a 4.9, but I can run faster than that. I did real good in the drills though."

He has visited one school this spring, as he was in Greenville for East Carolina's Spring Game.

"I like the city and the town," said Whiteside. "It's a great college. I was real impressed with it.

"They haven't offered me yet though. They want me to send them all my information first."

Although he has yet to garner a scholarship offer, Whiteside is a prospect to keep an eye on. One program stands out early in the processs.

"I actually like ECU," he said. "I really like their facilities. It's an in-state school, and one of my good friends is going there. It would be nice to be there with him."

An all-conference and all-area selection, Whiteside is one of 20 starters returning for Hendersonville. The Bearcats play in the Western Highlands 1A/2A Conference and finished 3-9 in 2006.
