Fayetteville Observer: Jones to East Carolina
Jones, a multi-purpose athlete at Scotland High School in Laurinburg the last two seasons, is the 10th player to join ECU's recruiting Class of 2008. He chose the Pirates over a list of schools that includes Clemson, Georgia, Miami and North Carolina.
"It doesn't surprise me," Scotland coach Mark Barnes said. "I think he wanted to play near home, so East Carolina was a good fit for him."
Jones has played a variety of offensive positions in three seasons on the Fighting Scots varsity. He played quarterback and wide receiver as a sophomore, then spent most of his time as a junior as the starting quarterback.
