Signing Day Party

I don't know if the East Carolina football team will be more successful this year than last, but one thing seems certain, the average Pirate fan will no longer be considered a necessary evil by the head coach.

Who knows, new ECU coach Johnson Thompson might even allow the occasional glimpse of a practice session. The new era of fan-friendly ECU football officially begins tomorrow when coach Thompson unveils his 2003 signing class during a special Signing Day Party, scheduled from 4-6 p.m. at the Murphy Center. The event, held in the Harvey Hall banquet room, is open to the public and free of charge. Thompson will address the media and formally announce the newest additions to the Pirate family from 4-5 p.m. A tally board with details on the signees, video highlights, and light refreshments will all be part of the festivities. The entire ECU coaching staff will mingle with ECU fans starting at 5 p.m. In addition, ECUpirates.com, the official web site of the Pirates, will list complete details of the 2003 signing class at approximately 4 p.m. in conjunction with the Signing Day Party. The Pirates will open their first-ever spring practice session under Thompson on March 18.
