Stag Recruits in High School Playoffs

Zamal Nixon of Boy's and Girl's High School in NY City, and Trumaine Johnson of Kingwood High School in Texas led their teams to victories in their high school playoffs. Both are senior point guards and are being recruited by Fairfield.

Zamal Nixon scored 18 points in leading #2 seeded Boy's and Girls to 85-70 win over #18 seeded Grady. On Sunday, Nixon will go against #7 seed Frederick Douglass

Zamal has visited Fairfield and Wichita State, and getting interest from Hofstra, Providence and St. Bonaventure. Nixon indicated that he will not make a decision until his high school playoffs are done.

Trumaine Johnson's Kingwood High school is the 14th ranked school in the country and recently beat the #5 ranked team in Texas, Elkins, by the score 42-35. Johnson hit a critical three-pointer and scored 7 points in the fourth quarter as Kingwood pulled away for the win.

Kingwood specializes in defense and Johnson is their leader. Trumaine held Madison sophomore point guard Tommy Mason-Griffin to 17 points in a regional semi-final. Mason-Griffin had been averaging 32.2 points in the postseason.

Johnson leads Kingwood in steals with 2.2 per game, and is one of their top three-point shooters.
