Ryne Smith Update - July 17th

In a story on FlyerHoops.net, Ryne Smith's father talks about the recruiting process and his sons recent visit to Dayton university. Bruce Smith is the father of Ryne, and the head coach of Toledo Whitmer high school in Ohio. Here is what Coach Smith had to say:

"I'm very impressed with the (Dayton) coaching staff and their professionalism," Ryne's father and Toledo Whitmer head coach Bruce Smith said. "They've done a very nice job, they're very kind and informative."

"They're a great program; we've followed (Toledo native) Brian Roberts a little bit and we know he has had a lot of success there and will probably be playing more basketball beyond next year."

"Ryne is not going to hold out for any bids from higher schools or anything like that. We're going to see what schools are serious (after July), find a place he can play early, and hopefully get this all done by October 1st, at the latest."

When asked if Dayton would be one of those teams when August comes around, Coach Smith said, "They are a great program in a great league. I know they get 12-to-13,000 a game and anybody who wouldn't consider Dayton is a fool, in my opinion."

Ryne Smith made quite an impression in early July, showcasing his talents at the Adidas Take 5ive Classic. The 6-3 sharpshooter had his recruitment and offers pick-up from Mid Majors. High Majors are now starting to get interested.

According to Scout.com, Ryne Smith has received an offer from Fairfield in addition to offers from Eastern Michigan, Akron and Bowling Green.

Both Ryne and Coach Smith visited Dayton's campus during the month of June. Dayton has not offered as of yet.
