Jamal Turner Reconsiders his Verbal

Fairfield received a verbal committment from Jamal Turner over the summer, but now the 6-3 point guard has decided to reconsider his decision. He plans to wait and not sign a National Letter of Intent until the late signing period.

When Jamal Turner gave a verbal committment over the summer, the talk was that the Stags had got their point guard of the future. Well, that projection has to be put on hold.

Turner said he rushed his decision and made a committment without visiting other schools. He had no other schools to compare to Fairfield.

When Turner committed to Fairfield, he made his decision on his admiration for Fairfield Coach Ed Cooley. That admiration is still strong, so the Stags remain very much in the picture.

In October, the following scouting report was reported by NERR: Turner was particularly impressive during the workouts at Tilton, he is no longer asked to create the majority of his team's offense, he is asked to run the team. He appears to be thriving in that role, he is staying under control and making good decisions. He also has a much improved outside shot and mid-range game. He knocked down open threes, and showed he can score with pull-up jumpers and step back moves from 12-15 feet.
