FGCU Picks Up Commitment From Carlyle

Dunk City continues their success with in-state recruiting.

Florida Gulf Coast picked up their first commitment of the 2016 class on Sunday as shooting guard Christian Carlyle (Bishop Kenny HS) announced his verbal to the Eagles at the conclusion of his official visit to Dunk City.

Carlyle, a 6-foot-5 wing, averaged 19.4 points and 4.9 rebounds his sophomore year in Bishop Kenny's 21-9 campaign (per Panther Rage). Florida Hoops lists him as the 20th ranked 2016 prospect in the state of Florida.

According to Verbal Commits, the Jacksonville, Fla. product also held offers from North Florida, Chattanooga, and Duquesne. With Julian DeBose and Filip Cvjeticanin entering their senior seasons, Carlyle's commitment fills one of FGCU's two open 2016 scholarships.

His highlight reel shows a very consistent pull-up jumper and the ability to finish at the rim.
