His verbal to the Eagles marks FGCU's second 2016 commitment of this week, as shooting guard Christian Carlyle (Bishop Kenny HS) announced his decision on Monday.
The Compton, Calif. product garnered lots of high-major interest, but felt a connection with 'Dunk City' after a visit to Fort Myers.
"The campus is beautiful. I love it," Scott said. "I feel at home there."
Ranked as a three star prospect by Scout, Scott battled tendinitis in his knees and a broken finger in his early years of high school, but has exploded onto the scene this season and led Compton to their first CIF title since 1969.
"I'm a good slasher, rebounder, and shooter," Scott said of his strengths on the court. On the other hand, he is trying to improve his strength, quickness, and defense in his time before arriving at Florida Gulf Coast.
Playing with Northwest Xpress, he averaged 7 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks at the first Nike EYBL session this spring in Hampton, Va. He plans to sign his NLI during the early signing period that begins Nov. 11, 2015.
