JUCO forward Brady Ernst commits to FGCU

Dunk City has added a big piece to its current recruiting class.

Indian Hills Community College 2017 big man Brady Ernst has committed to Florida Gulf Coast University, he announced on Saturday.

The 6-foot-10 forward de-committed from Xavier earlier this month. According to our friends at the Illini Inquirer, Ernst was hearing from Illinois, Nebraska, and VCU - in addition to FGCU. He chose the latter and will now be headed to a school he's somewhat familiar with.

Coming out of Clinton High School (IA) in 2015, Ernst took an official visit to Dunk City before eventually committing to Iowa State. As freshman in 2015-16 with the Cyclones, he played in six games before being shut down due to ACL issues and using a redshirt. He then transferred to Indian Hills CC, a prestigious JUCO program.

"After redshirting, I just wanted to go somewhere where I could play right away and not have to sit out for two straight years," Ernst told Musketeer Report in January. "And obviously Indian Hills has a great tradition as a national junior college powerhouse, so it was a great opportunity for me."

This season at junior college, Ernst averaged 9.4 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while shooting 63.7% from the field. He should provide some size and depth down low as the Eagles look to reload from the departures of Marc-Eddy Norliea, Kevin Mickle and Demetris Morant.

"I really pride myself on defense and rebounding," Ernst told Musketeer Report. "I like to contest shots, change shots and protect the rim. Just play physical and do a lot of the little things."

Ernst has three years of eligibility remaining and can play immediately.
