Chris Black(5'10, 174) talked about how his season has been going so far.
"So far it's been great. We have a lot of talent on the team. We opened up with two state teams, Bolles and American Heritage and we were fortunate enough to come out on top. We beat Ed White by 24 points last night, so it's just been going great. I have two receiving touchdowns and one kick return for a touchdown."
"I have to say my top schools are Florida, Florida State and Clemson. I also just received an offer from Miami. Florida, I grew up a Florida fan. I went down to Friday Night Lights and had a great time. I like the intensity and speed at Florida. Florida State has been on me since day one. I talk to the wide receivers coach, Coach Dawsey. I like Coach Dawsey, he is real cool. South Carolina is another school that has been on me since day one. I have a good relationship with Coach Spurrier. Clemson, I took a trip down there over the summer and they had way more to offer than I expected and it would be something different for me."
With no clear favorite, he talked about what he will be looking for in a school.
"I want to stay close to home. Somewhere that has a great need for me and where I can play as a freshman."
This weekend Black will make an unofficial visit to attend a SEC game.
"I am going to the Florida game against Kentucky. I know I will head up to a Florida State game."
Scout.com's Southeast Regional Manager recently spent an afternoon at First Coast and had this to say about the talented youngster.
"He may not be that prototypical 6-foot-3 wideout that so many colleges look for these days, but he will be one of the top receiver targets in the South in 2012. Black is a 5-foot-10, 174 pound athlete that will play the slot position. He really stuck his routes, he was sharp out of his breaks, and he is too quick for anyone to cover one on one. He is dangerous with the ball in his hands."
Stay tuned to NoleDigest as we track Chris Black until signing day.
