2012 DT Talks Recruiting

Teko Powell is a 6'2'', 250-pound punisher on the Miami Norland defensive line. He is a powerful run stopper and is beginning to become more polished as both a tackle and defensive end.

"We did great as a team, we constantly improved this season. We really came together as a team this year. I improved on shooting my hands and not over pursuing when I was at the defensive end. I became a lot smarter and kept my contain a lot better as the season went on," he said.

Powell has been in contact with several schools, and says he's close to landing his first offers of the season.

"Florida State, Miami, Wisconsin, and Georgia Tech have all been in contact with me," he quoted. "I‘m getting letters from them and Miami and Florida State talked specifically about an offer. I haven't been to visit anyone yet but I really am looking forward to it," Powell revealed.

Now that the season has ended, Powell and his teammates can be found spending time in the weight room, as well as the track.

"I want to work on my speed and getting stronger in the weight room. I want to improve all over my game. I've been in the weight room a lot, and I'm running track this season too," he stated. Powell looks to be an instate prospect, and would jump at an instate offer right now. He's still focused on maintaining his grades as well as scoring his best on the ACT.

"I think academics and staying close to home are the two deciding factors for me. I don't want to get very far from my family. They mean a lot to me and I want them to see me play. My grades are good, I'm taking the ACT in April and my GPA is 2.8 right now," Teko finished.
