Miramar Star has FSU Offer

Devonte Mathis is another Miramar speedster for the class of 2012. He's a talented offensive player who sees action at several positions, most notably receiver. At 6'1'' and 205 pounds he's beginning to get a lot of attention from college programs. So far West Virginia and Florida State have offered Mathis.

"My recruitment with Florida State has been going really well. I'm going to their junior day to check out the campus at see what its like up there," he said. " I've been talking with Coach Gran a lot, I think things have been going really well between us."

Mathis will also be hitting the 7on7 circuit this spring, along with his offseason regimen. "I'm on the South Florida Express team, and I'm working a lot on my quickness this offseason. I'm just staying focused and getting better," Mathis revealed.

He's looking forward to his final high school season, and thinks getting his recruitment over with early will help enhance his experience. "I think I may give an early verbal. I'm looking forward to enjoying my senior year and don't want to have that still on my mind," he discussed.

He had a successful season last year, but as always is looking to improve on this numbers this fall.

"I threw for 713 yards and seven touchdowns and ran for 167 yards and two touchdowns. As a receiver I had ten receptions for 198 yards and five touchdowns," Mathis proclaimed.

"I'm taking the ACT this March and have a 2.9 GPA right now. I'm focused at being a student just as much as being a good football player," he finished.
