Reid Passes At Nike Camp
The word going around the camp fire is that Florida State is close offering Galena Park (TX) North Shore quarterback Robert Reid.
On Saturday Reid took his skills to the Texas A&M Nike camp and he didn't disappoint.
Student Sports.com reports two quarterbacks stood out and according to those watching the drills were "1 and 1A." They were Kirby Freeman from Brownwood, Texas, and Robbie Reid of Houston North Shore.
Reid checked in at 6-foot-3 and 216 pounds and had an impressive 4.46 in the 40.
Some of his early offers are Arizona, Northwestern, Texas A&M and Oklahoma State.
Reid is an interesting prospect because of his amazing athletic ability. However, he's a quarterback that's far from polished and could take a few years in college before he's ready to take the reigns. The Texas quarterback prospect is a risk but because of his tremendous upside he might be too much to pass up; even for a program like Florida State.
"If I had to play a guy right now," quarterback drill leader Bob Johnson told the insiders.com. "I'd take Kirby, but watch out for Robbie's upside."
"Kirby really came on strong after struggling early," said Greg Biggins, the Student Sports Dir. of Recruiting. "He has a live arm and is a little more refined than Robbie."
As a junior Reid completed 66 passes out of 113 attempts for 1,169 yards with 13 touchdowns.
