Noles Offer South Carolina LB

Robert Ayers, a linebacker from the Bennettsville (SC) Marlboro County, has been racking up the scholarship offers. Last week he picked up one from Florida State to go along with offers from Maryland Clemson, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina and Vanderbilt. Click here to read all about it.

"Last Tuesday I got an offer from Florida State," the 6-foot-4 and 227 pound middle linebacker with 4.5 speed in the 40 said. "Coach Steele of Florida State told my coach that I was best linebacker that he has seen on film out of 45 players. He also told my coach that I'm the type of players he wants to help Florida State win a National Championship. Hearing him say that put a smile on my face for the rest of the week."

Ayer has plans to attend the Virginia Nike Camp in May. He also would like to attend team football camps at South Carolina, Tennessee and Florida State.

Where do the Noles stand with him?

."I don't know too much about college teams outside of South Carolina," he said. "I grew up in New Jersey and I have only lived in the South for three years now. Plus, I really don't follow college football on television. This year I will though. I'll have to go check out some teams on visits to find out more about them."

What exactly will he be looking for in a school?

"I'm looking for a good coaching staff," Ayers said. "I'm looking for stability."

Ayers, who touts his strengths as his speed and his ability to make the quick reads, had 89 tackles, 28 tackles for a loss and eight sacks in only eight games played as a junior.

Currently, he carries a grade point an average of 2.8 and he'll take the SAT in June.
