Linas Kleiza will consider three schools: Florida State, Missouri and North Carolina. The national signing date will come and pass and he won't sign a letter of intent with any of those programs during the spring period.
He's just not ready to decide and he's leaving the country this weekend. A source close to the situation told us that Kleiza will leave on Sunday for Lithuania and will try out for the junior national team. His scheduled return is May 28 and he graduates from Montrose Christian School three days later.
"Nothing will happen before Sunday," the source said. Meaning, like we stated earlier, he will not be signing with anyone during the spring period. No big deal, there will be a scholarship waiting for him at the school of his choice.
Here's the situation. Our source thinks that Kleiza is very likely to officially visit North Carolina upon his return and subsequent graduation from Montrose. That means an early June visit is not out of the question.
North Carolina has been in touch with him this week and at this point, they seem to have momentum. However, momentum with Kleiza can change almost on a daily basis.
From keeping close tabs on this situation since last year, we can tell you that in the last month or so, things have constantly been changing. Missouri was once the undisputed leader for his services and that's no longer the case. Yes, the Tigers still are recruiting him and have a chance, but this is turning into a serious recruiting battle.
Clearly Florida State has also done a tremendous job. Just last week and even early this week, insiders were considering the Seminoles the leaders. Right now, it would be extremely difficult to call it for one of the schools.
Expect the next two weeks to be relatively quiet as the power forward is out of the country. Things will heat up again at the end of the month.
