Nike Camp Standout List Noles

Looking for a tall athletic receiver with good speed? If so, Johnny Peyton from Dade City (Fla.) Pasco is the man for the job. The 6-foot-4 and 170 pound standout used his 4.5 40 speed to dominate the competition at the Florida Nike camp. Click here to read more about him.

Last year was only his second year of playing organized football. As a junior, Peyton caught 21 passes for 768 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also stood out at the Florida Nike camp by beating the camp MVP Tony Cater for a touchdown.

I got him to turn his hips," Peyton said. "Another thing I like to do to beat my man is to not run full-speed at first. When the ball is in the air, I explode."

Right now Peyton is getting plenty of attention from college coaches during the May evaluation period. He has been offered by Pittsburgh, Georgia Tech and Iowa State. Florida, Florida State and Miami are also recruiting him.

"Last week Miami was by my school and I was told that their coach said I would get an offer," he said. "Florida State was by the school earlier in the week and Florida is coming in next week."

Peyton grew up a Florida fan. However, he's also got Pittsburgh, Miami, Florida State and Georgia Tech high on his list.

"Pittsburgh is the only team that I would travel for outside of the Southeast," Peyton said. "I talked to their coach and they want me to come up for their camp in the summer. I really admire Pittsburgh's wide receiver Fitzgerald."

Peyton and Land O Lakes quarterback Drew Weatherford have formed a strong friendship. The two Pasco county standouts workout together in the off-season and they both hooked up several times at the Nike camp in Gainesville.

"I think passing wise Drew was the best quarterback at the camp," he said. "We have talked about playing for the same team in college."

Peyton, who wants to major in Engineering in college, carries a great point average of 3.3 and ACT test score of 19.

This summer, Peyton plans on attending football camps at Pittsburgh, Florida, Florida State and Miami.
