X-Man Speaks

TheTerritory attended the Daytona Beach Seabreeze High School spring game. Following the scrimmage, Xavier Lee, one of the top high school quarterbacks in the nation, sat down with The Territory for an exclusive interview. Click here for all the details. "I am going to be as wide open as I can. I am going to take all of my visits and wait and see," Lee said of the recruiting process.

Now that spring is almost over, what's up for you next?

I'm going to work on my own a little bit. I think we are going to go to a few passing camps.

How did you feel like you did out there today?

I could've done a lot better. I know there's a lot of stuff I need to improve on and that's what I'm going to work on over the summer.

What did you get out of the Nike camp in Gainesville?

I learned some stuff on my footwork. Normally I throw kind of falling back sometimes. That's pretty much what I learned. That's the big-thing I learned.

What do you think of the competition? There were a couple of good quarterbacks there. How did you think you compared with them?
There was some good competition there. I like competition. Both of those quarterbacks were good Ingram and Weatherford.

What's the recruiting process going to be like for you? Are you going to commit early or take some visits in the fall?

I'm going to be as wide open as I can. I ‘m going to take all of my visits and wait and see. I'm probably not going to wait until the last few days though.

Are there some teams out there that your looking that might be a good fit for you?

I don't know too much about the schools yet so I can't really say.

Have any of the Florida schools dropped by the school yet or call you on the phone?

Florida State called once but I wasn't home so I didn't get a chance to talk to them yet. All three Florida schools have been by.

What are your goals for the upcoming year?

Hopefully, to win a state championship. Throw as few interceptions as I can and try and break my passing record.

Working with quarterback coach Thad Busby, what has he helped with?

He's taught me how to look off the safety. He taught to look right and make it look like that's where I'm going to go and then look and the find the other guy open on the other side of the field.

What are your thoughts on the Florida schools? Do you want to stay in-state or does it matter?

It doesn't really matter where I go.

Are you interested in Florida?

I'm interested but they signed two quarterbacks this year.

What about Miami?

They have the number one quarterback in the nation.

What about Florida State?

They didn't sign a quarterback.
