FSU Is Moving Up The List Of All-American QB

Pittsburgh (Pa.) Penn Hills quarterback Anthony Morelli is at least one of the top five quarterbacks in the country and has been offered by just about every school in the country that has come to see him minus one. Here's the latest on Morelli and a look ahead to what could be a very important unofficial trip this weekend.

Morelli, 6-4, 208 pounds has the strongest throwing arm of any quarterback we've seen this year. Mechanically he has it all including a nice drop, nice ball placement and a quick release. He attended the EA SPORTS Elite 11 a year ago as a ball boy and was one of the top five signal callers of the camp.

On the recruiting front, Morelli now has 39 scholarship offers and the only school in his top 10 that has yet to offer is Notre Dame.

"They came to the school and said they loved me but just aren't ready to offer a quarterback yet," Morelli said. "There's four quarterbacks including me they're looking hard and will offer one of us at the end of the month. Right now, I still like UCLA, Ohio State, Florida State, Notre Dame and Michigan as my top five and I'm also looking at Pittsburgh, Georgia, Iowa, Miami and Tennessee.

"Things have been so crazy lately that my dad and I decided to get out of the house a few times to avoid all the phone calls. I'm still looking to commit early if I can and if I find the right school for me. I'm taking an unofficial visit to UCLA this weekend and I can't wait to get there. We leave Friday night and get in late that night. Saturday I'm hoping to go work out with Bob Johnson in Mission Viejo and then that night, we're going to the airport to pick up Andrew (Johnson- PA RB).

"Sunday at 10:00, we're meeting with Coach Dorrell and we're planning to spend the whole day there. I have no idea what they have planned but I'm sure I'll have a good time. We'll leave late Monday night to come back home. After the trip, I should have a better idea of where things are at with regards to my recruitment."

UCLA has led for Morelli for some time now and it wouldn't surprise us if he decides to pull the trigger on or shortly after the visit. If not, watch out for Flordia State as well as Notre Dame if the Irish do decide to offer.
