Okaro White scored a career-high 20 points and added seven rebounds, as Florida State halted a three-game losing streak with a 76-51 win over Charleston Southern on Monday night.
Michael Snaer scored 13 points, placing him in double figures in scoring for the fifth straight game. Bernard James and Xavier Gibson had 12 points each for the 'Noles (6-3), with Gibson grabbing seven rebounds and James six.
Saah Nimley and Kelvin Martin had 13 points apiece for Charleston Southern (5-3), which started three freshmen and shot just 29.8 percent (17 of 57) from the floor. Martin added eight rebounds.
FSU used an early 20-2 run to grab a 25-7 lead with 10:13 left in the first half. The Seminoles led 45-18 at halftime, scoring more points in 20 minutes than they did in a 46-41 loss to Harvard on Nov. 25.
Charleston Southern had more turnovers in the first half (11) than baskets (5). The Buccaneers managed just 18 first-half points two nights after rolling to a 114-81 win over Virginia Military Institute.
In the second half, Charleston Southern went on a 12-0 run to cut Florida State's lead to 53-34 with 10:24 left in the game. But the Buccaneers could not close the gap, and Florida State improved to 6-0 in the series between the schools.
Florida State made 48.4 percent (30 of 62) of its shots.
The 'Noles used their height advantage and athleticism to outrebound the Buccaneers 45-30. Gibson had four blocks for Florida State.
Both teams were plagued by turnovers. Florida State had 21 and Charleston Southern had 20.
White, a sophomore forward, made 8 of 12 shots from the floor. His previous career high was 19 points against Hawaii in December 2010.
The Seminoles won their seventh consecutive nonconference home game, a streak that dates back to last season.
