Seminoles' scoring been on the rise

After struggling so badly to put the ball in the hoop consistently earlier this season, Florida State seems to have found a much better rhythm on offense. The play of guard Ian Miller is a big reason why.

TRENDING: Florida State is averaging 78 points scored per game in its last five. The Seminoles have increased their scoring average by 7.7 points in their last four games compared to the first 15 of the season. They also continue to lead the ACC in field goal percentage defense. The combination of this hot streak put FSU back in the Top 25 of the AP poll for the first time since Nov. 21, although they still remain unranked in the coach's poll.

FUTURES MARKET: It was a solid week for sophomore G Ian Miller, who produced a career-high 18 points in the Seminoles' win against Maryland on Jan. 17, then followed with seven points in 15 minutes of play against Duke. Miller has been the most dependable backcourt reserve. The 'Noles are still hoping to see progression from transfer Jeff Peterson, who is playing his final season of eligibilty as a grad student, and true freshman Terry Whisnant, whose playing time has diminished in recent games.

F Bernard James missed 2 of 4 four free throws in the Duke game, this after shooting 90 percent from the free-throw line in the last three games. He had made eight consecutive free throws since the first half of the Seminoles' victory over Virginia Tech on Jan. 10. He made his final five free throws of FSU's win in Blacksburg. In four previous ACC games, James made 11 of 14 free-throw attempts. ...

G Michael Snaer is averaging a career-high and team-leading 13.5 points per game. He has scored in double figures 14 times in 19 games this season, matching the number of double-figure scoring games he had all last season. Snaer averaged 8.8 points through the first two seasons of his career.
