Noles Looking To Big WR Prospect

College coaches from across the country have been looking for that tall, athletic receiver with good speed. Several of those coaches found their man who happens to be located in Citra (Fla.) North Marion. Greg Carr, a 6-foot-6 and 175 pound standout with 4.5 40-yard dash speed, is drawing quite a crowd.

So far Michigan State, Alabama, Wake Forest and Pittsburgh have offered him.

"He's getting a lot of attention from Miami, Florida and Florida State, "North Marion head football coach Craig Damon, said. "Pittsburgh is calling me every day to make sure Greg makes it up for their camp. He probably will attend that camp in addition to Miami's and Florida's camps. He's going to try and head up to Georgia and workout for them some."

So what's all the fuss about?

"He's got lot quickness for a big guy," Coach Damon said. "He probably gets that from playing basketball. His style of play is comparable to Plaxico Burress because he's a big, physical receiver that can really catch the football."

Right now Carr has the most interest in Miami, Georgia, Michigan State, Alabama, Florida State and Pittsburgh.

Carr doesn't want to play too close to home or too far away.

"I really don't want to play for Florida because it's too close to home," Carr, who caught 35, passes for 700 yards and nine touchdowns to earn Class 3A all-state honors, said.

"I want to get a way from home a little bit."

Pittsburgh is one of the teams that are going after him very hard.

What does he think of the Panthers?

"Pittsburgh seems like a good school," he said. Coach Partridge calls my coach a lot. "I've looked through their media guide and it looks like a nice place."

Florida State, in addition to Miami and Florida called Carr in May.

"Coach Allen called me and he wants me to come to their camp."

Note: Florida, Florida State and Miami are continuing to recruit him hard. According to his head coach, he will most likely get an offer from those schools with an improvement in the classroom and on the SAT. Coach Damon is confident that Carr will improve enough to qualify.
