WR Impresses at the FSU Camp

Del Roberts, a 5-foot-8 and 170 pound wide receiver from Tallahassee (Fla.) Godby, might not be the ideal size but don't let that fool you because he is fine athlete. This week he attended the Florida State football camp and TheTerritory caught up with to find out how it went.

"It went real well," Roberts said. "I opened a few eyes down there and the coaches got a chance to look at me and they liked me. Coach (Jeff) Bowden told me that I looked real good and that he looked forward to recruiting me."

In addition to Florida State, Roberts also has interest in Florida, North Carolina and Miami. He has scholarship offers from Nebraska, Iowa, North Carolina and Central Florida.

Roberts, who was in the writer's opinion the best wide receiver at the first camp session, compares his style to former Miami Hurricane wide receiver Santana Moss.

"Moss is short but he's quick and has a lot speed," he said "That's pretty much how I am."

Where do the Noles stand with the Godby wide receiver who has 4.45 40-yard dash speed?

"If Florida State where to offer, I would definitely put them first right now," he said "I think highly of Florida State. Growing up I really liked FSU but Florida was my favorite team. But after I got to meet the coaches (FSU) and seeing the locker room, I feel very strongly about Florida State now."

Over the past two seasons, Roberts caught 45 passes for 745 yards and six touchdowns. He also returned two kickoffs for touchdowns.

Did any other prospects catch his eye at the camp?

"Drew Weatherford, the quarterback, has a great arm and he has great accuracy," he said.

This fall look for the Noles to possibly offer the explosive Roberts.
